What will EveryDay Detox do for me?

EveryDay Detox is an herbal tea used to promote healthy liver function. How do I know it works? The use of herbs in EveryDay Detox for liver protection is supported by pharmacological data and traditional use. Both licorice root and schisandra fruit have demonstrated significant liver protective action in various test models. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), chicory root is used to remove heat from the liver, stimulate bile secretion, and promote digestion. Lycium fruit (aka gou qi zi or goji berry) acts to reinforce the liver and the kidney. When should I use it? Unless directed otherwise by your licensed acupuncturist or naturopathic doctor, drink 2 to 3 cups daily, at least 30 minutes before or after meals. How does it taste? Balanced: Schisandra fruit contains all five tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, pungent and salty. Licorice and lycium are sweet while chicory and dandelion are slightly bitter.

Brew Well to be Well

For maximum benefit, herbal tea must be properly prepared. Pour 8 oz. freshly boiled water over a tea bag in a cup. Cover cup and steep 10-15 minutes. These steps directly influence the amount of beneficial components that will end up in your teacup! Gently squeeze the tea bag to release any remaining extract. Drink 2-3 cups daily. To enhance benefits, add fresh lemon juice to taste.

Duration of use: Drink daily for up to 6 weeks. Pause up to 1 week before resuming.

Cautions: Consult a healthy care practitioner before taking if you have gallstones. Avoid use if you have loose stools. In rare cases, chicory and dandelion may be associated with allergic skin reactions. Discomfort due to gastric hyperacidity may occur after taking herbs that contain bitter substances like chicory and dandelion. Individuals with high gastric acidity or peptic ulcers may experience increased acidity when taking schisandra fruit.

Contraindications: Do not use if you have an allergy to Asteraceae/Compositae (the daisy family) plants, or if you have obstructed bile ducts, inflammation of the gallbladder, or painful obstruction of the bowel.
