Natural iodine from seaweeds is different from the typical iodide salts found in supplements. According to Dr. Murray ND, natural iodine is the only type useful for breast health because breast cells lack the enzyme necessary to convert inorganic iodides into iodine. Kelp is considered the world's most potent source of naturally occurring iodine. I have just started taking Kelp, referred to me by a good friend, taking this product in combination with NOW Thyroid Energy( http://goo.gl/jMwdA ) and L-Tyrosine( http://goo.gl/O5H4Q ). I have noticed a little difference in not being as tired as I was before. I also have noticed that my hair is not falling out as much as it was. I will be looking forward to seeing the lab results next month (I have to have my TSH, T3, and T4 drawn every other month). I have also spoke with a homeopathic MD and he had also suggested to double the recommended dose (now this is only done through an MD, not for everyone please follow the recommended dosage). I had a complete hysterectomy done about 5 months ago and that has affected by thyroid (hypothyroidism). My prescription has changed before I started taking the herbal supplement. I will continue to take Kelp because I am anxious to see how this will unfold. I have been on thyroid meds for years. It's just slightly sluggish and found my prescription medication just wasn't working for me anymore. I was gaining weight and it was getting out of control. Nothing I did helped. Exercising, dieting, nothing. So I read an article about sea kelp with iodine helping to regulate slightly low thyroid. I have noticed in the past week that my pants seem to fit better and I don't have to struggle to get into them anymore. The sea kelps cost is low and I'm very happy now.
